WP Missing first revision with wp_get_post_revisions()

Question

I’m using WordPress native revisions and I’ve found a little problem.

I want to return a list of revisions to the page however my first published content is lost everytime I make a change.

The best way to demonstrate this is with images from the database:

When I first create a note all looks fine:

When I edit this note in the back end this is what changes:

Do you see how the original content with the “1” has been lost? This is not good! How can I allow for revisions to store that first bit of data as well?

Note: Here is what happens when I add a third. Still that initial post with “1” in the content is lost:

What can I do to avoid this?

I’ve tried:

  1. Looking at parameters for wp_get_post_revisions() but there are none
  2. Looked up other questions on SO, nothing.
  3. Looked for any sort of plugin (Plugins seem a bit dead on WP nowa days!)
  4. Looked for some sort of hook I can do something custom but I’m not sure on this one
