SMTP succeeds on new user notifications, but fails all else. How to debug it?


I am using Easy WP SMTP plugin with a Microsoft Office 365 mail account. I use this setup without issue on one of my sites, but on the current site it fails most of the time. For instance, if I create a new user and check the box to "Send User Notification…" then two mails should go out, but the mail log only has one email in it, i.e. the new user notification sent to my administrator email. The email to the actual user is never attempted. Likewise no password resets are sent out. No WooCommerce notifications of any kind go out, including those to the admin email.

How can I debug this?
