Imported posts images not visible in front end (ACF Gallery)

I am trying to export some posts to another blog.
This blog uses ACF plugin with a gallery field.
The images get imported in back end but do not show up in front end until the post is manually updated.
It is impossible for me to manually update thousands of posts.
Is there a way to simulate a manual update on all posts?
This issue was acknowledged by ACF staff in 2014 but no solution was ever provided.

This is a current problem with ACF and WP. The issue is that when you
download and import attachments from an xml file, the new WP install
will insert the media data into the DB with NEW ID’s.

These ID’s will then not match the ID’s saved in the ACF values…

The quickest fix, is to edit the posts and re assign the images. If
you feel up to it, you could go through the DB wp_postmeta table and
replace the old ID values with the new ID value?

Thanks E

I have tried to update many posts with back end function “bulk edit” but it did not fix the issue.
